The drug marijuana has many misconceptions and untruths. Marijuana is not just about getting a drug high as it also has medicinal used. The drug can be prescribed for pain relief for some major illnesses. The drug has a bad image across the world as drug culture has tried to glamorise its use. Rastafarians use the drug as part of their religion as it is an integral part of their beliefs. When taken properly marijuana is as safe as any legal drug and is regarded by many as safer than alcohol. The major problem with marijuana is that people take it recreationally and take it to excess. The image of the drug is then tarnished due to the problems it causes.
The Good:
The use of marijuana in the medical profession is becoming more common place; the drug itself has great pain relief properties and can give a feeling of well being. The religions that use marijuana see it as an herb from the Gods which allow the follower to have an up lifted feeling when times are bad.
The Bad:
Marijuana has been around and used for centuries but in today’s society it is used as a ‘get high’ drug. Many drug dealers mix the natural drug with other chemicals that are harmful so that they can get more revenue.
The Ugly:
Drugs generally have a bad image as socially drugs are often taken by addicts or those who have few prospects in life. Many people die everyday from drug taking so most governments around the world still have a ban on their use and production unless used for medicine or religion.
